Leads the architecture and design of the NOS system management subsystem, covering CLI, NETCONF/YANG, and telemetry streaming.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect the system management layer — CLI, NETCONF/RESTCONF, gRPC, RESTful APIs, YANG modeling, telemetry, and remote access
- Design and implement CLI (hierarchical commands, execution engine), NETCONF (RFC 6241), and RESTCONF (RFC 8040)
- Design and implement gRPC/gNMI/gNOI services and YANG modeling (RFC 6020/7950) with OpenConfig/IETF models
- Design transactional configuration (commit/rollback, ACID datastores) and telemetry streaming (YANG-Push)
- Design reliability, security (AAA, TLS/SSL, RBAC), and APIs for configuration database integration
- Mentor engineers, lead architecture/API reviews, and drive cross-functional collaboration with protocol teams
Requirements
- Expert knowledge of NETCONF (RFC 6241, 5277), RESTCONF (RFC 8040), gNMI, and YANG modeling (RFC 6020/7950)
- Deep understanding of configuration management protocols, CLI subsystems, RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and telemetry streaming within NOS architecture
Nice to Have
- Experience building management subsystems within network operating systems
- YANG modeling experience with industry-standard models for device configuration
- Experience with network OS architectures and embedded systems development
- Experience building transactional configuration systems with rollback capabilities
- Multi-vendor network operating system development experience
