Leads the architecture and design of routing and MPLS subsystems for our network operating system, spanning IGP, BGP, and VPN.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect routing, MPLS, VPN, and Segment Routing subsystems for IPv4/IPv6, compliant with IETF/ISO standards
- Design and implement IGP protocols (OSPF v2/v3, IS-IS) and BGP-4/MP-BGP across multiple address families
- Design and implement MPLS label switching, LDP, and RSVP-TE for traffic engineering, plus L3VPN, L2VPN, and EVPN
- Design and implement Segment Routing (SR-MPLS, SRv6) with IGP extensions, SR Policy, and TI-LFA
- Design for large-scale deployments — millions of routes, thousands of BGP peers — with sub-second convergence and carrier-grade reliability (GR, NSR, ISSU, BFD)
- Mentor engineers, run code and architecture reviews, and drive cross-functional collaboration across routing, MPLS, and data plane teams
Requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years focused on routing and MPLS protocol development
- Expert knowledge of IGP protocols (OSPF, IS-IS) and BGP-4/MP-BGP with hands-on implementation experience
- Deep understanding of Segment Routing (SR-MPLS, SRv6, SR Policy), L3VPN, L2VPN, and EVPN architectures
- Proven track record shipping production-grade routing and MPLS implementations at carrier-grade scale
Nice to Have
- Open-source routing protocol contributions to community projects
- Segment Routing deployment experience with SR-MPLS or SRv6
- Data center EVPN deployment experience with VXLAN overlays
